Some new Octo Paintings

So right before my surgery, I had started working on some paintings. I didn't have the opportunity to finish them, so I've just finished two of them while I've been working on some Christmas commissions (you'll see these after the holidays). Without further ado...

Christmas cards

Due to my jaw surgery in June, I didn't have the opportunity to make a lot of art over the summer due to my recovery and other happenings. However, one of my goals was to make a set of Christmas cards that I could sell. So in October I sketched out some ideas and this is what I came up with.

Octo Wreath

Octo Tree

Octo Present

Dino Skate

Dino Cookie

Puppy in a box

Cat Tree

All of these were painted on 9"x12" Water color paper with acrylic and prisma color pencils.

Second set of commissions

For these painting, the commissioner wanted me to play with the theme of monsters attacking cities. I decided to add a robot and giant ape into the mix along with "Steve-Rex."

Additional commissions

Due to the popularity of my last paintings, I actually had the opportunity to paint some more and make a three painting series of birds and of monsters attacking cities. Here's the set of birds along with a new picture of the blue one from before.

Somthing Different

So I've been meaning to post these for awhile, but I only just finished the last one Saturday afternoon. These guys are a little different than what I normally paint (no girls here), but will mostly likely be seen in future paintings from me. I had bought some smaller wood plaques and I felt that these best fit the size of the canvas so to speak. I hope you enjoy them!

This guy is now adorning the desk of my boyfriend. He claimed it while it was still in sketch form.

Some of you may remember this guy from the mini comic I made last year. I hope to remake it sometime soon, but he will still be an integral part to the story.

This was the one I struggled with. the original color palette just wasn't working. It took me awhile to figure out out how he wanted to look.

This one is a bit smaller than the last, so I had to rely on colored pencils to give me some of the detail I needed. Also, I normally just do hair with paper, but since it looked a little odd on just the hair, I decided to extend the paper to her entire outfit. Hope you guys like it!

Re-uploaded cause it looked different on my monitor, this is a bit closer to how it would look in person.

New Painting

Here's my latest painting. I tried doing somethings a little different this time around, especially in the background. Additionally, I incorporated the use of colored pencils to embellish certain details that would prove to be difficult with a brush (or at least easier for me). I think it came out pretty close to what I had pictured in my mind. I also made sure to take time with this one in order to pay close attention to what I was doing and how I was approaching everything. I hope you guys like it!

Sketch dump

Currently working on something that I can't show as of right now, so I figured I would update my neglected art blog with some stuff that I definitely can show. I did a bunch of drawings around Christmas time and have just now gotten back to working on them for some painting ideas. So without further ado, here they are!

Hopefully these give you guys a good idea of how my work process works. You can see in a couple of them I changed up a few elements that I didn't think were working well and made adjustments here and there. Also you may recognize some of these drawings as being from that same list I posted a few entries back. I haven't forgotten!
